Oklahoma City Comets News Release

The Oklahoma RedHawks dropped a 6-4 decision to the New Orleans Zephyrs Monday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The Zephyrs scored three times in the first and added three more in the ninth to seal the win.

New Orleans tallied three runs on three hits against Matt Harrison in the top of the first. Zephyrs starter Brian Stokes shutout the RedHawks over the first three innings before Ryan Roberts scored on a ground ball by Taylor Teagarden. Oklahoma came within in at 3-2 when Chris Davis hit his seventh Triple-A home run of the season, a solo shot to lead off the sixth inning. Davis now has 20 combined between Frisco and Oklahoma this season. Harrison pitched into the eighth before giving way to Warner Madrigal, who came on to get the final out of the inning with a runner at second base. Madrigal was not as fortunate in the ninth, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk. Oklahoma added two more runs on a double by Jason Ellison in the bottom of the ninth. Stokes left after that hit, one out shy of his first complete game of the season. Carlos Muniz induced a ground out by Joaquin Arias to end the game.

Davis extended his hitting streak to 12 games with the home run, while John Mayberry singled in the first to extend his batting streak to eight consecutive games with a hit. Nate Gold and Drew Meyer knocked two hits each for Oklahoma. Argenis Reyes paced New Orleans with four hits and two runs batted in, and Valentino Pascucci had three hits for the Zephyrs, who won three out of five from the RedHawks over the last four days. Stokes (7-5) picked up the win, Harrison (1-1) took the loss, and Muniz (8) earned the save.

Oklahoma travels to Nashville for a four-game series with the Sounds starting Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm.
