Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Albuquerque Isotopes (33-29) banged out 15 hits en route to a 10-4 victory over Round Rock (31-31) Friday night at Isotopes Park. Todd Sears led the way offensively for the âTopes with four hits while Wilson Delgado recorded three and drove in a pair.
Albuquerque snapped an early 2-2 tie with a three-run fourth and never looked back. âTopes starter Frank Castillo (6-2) pitched effectively by avoiding the big inning to earn the win. The veteran allowed four runs, no more than a single tally in any inning, over 5.2 frames and struck out five. J.B. Miadich pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn his 10th save of the season while Jared Gothreaux (3-6) took the loss for Round Rock.
The first four batters reached base for Albuquerque in the fourth inning. Josh Willingham, who was named the Florida Marlins Minor League Player of the Month earlier in the day, got things started with a single and checked in to second base after a walk to Jason Wood. Delgado drove in the first run of the inning with a double to left field and Josh Wilson followed with an RBI-single through the left side of the infield that gave the Isotopes a 4-1 advantage. After a sacrifice bunt and an intentional walk, Chris Aguila capped off the big inning with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Round Rock battled back with single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings to close the gap to one run at 5-4, but the Isotopes scored twice in the sixth and three more times in the eighth to put the game away.
Luke Scott got Round Rock on the board in the first inning with a solo home run to right field, but Willingham doubled home a pair of runs in the home half to give the âTopes a 2-1 lead. Danny Klassen inched the Express closer with a solo home run of his own in the third inning too start a rally that fell short.
Albuquerque will continue its home series against Round Rock when it takes on the Express in the third game of a four-game series Saturday night at 7:05. Right-handed pitcher Ariel Prieto (3-2, 6.16) is slated to start for the Isotopes against Round Rock lefty Carlos Hernandez (2-5, 7.11). Stay after the game for the fireworks extravaganza! Tickets are available at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at local Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, and Ticketmaster by phone at 883-7800.
