Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - Juan Brito hit a game-tying, three-run home run in the ninth inning and Corey Myers plated the go-ahead run with a two-out RBI single in the top of the 10th for a 6-5 victory over the Portland Beavers Friday afternoon at PGE Park.

The Beavers (32-29) built an early lead and took a 5-2 advantage into the ninth, but Brito tied the game with his booming, two-out blast to left off Portland closer Brad Baker, who suffered his fifth blown save of the season.

Bobby Scales, Jon Knott and Adam Hyzdu hit home runs for the Beavers. Scales was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to lead the way.

Portland starter Justin Germano gave up two runs in seven innings and matched a career high with 10 strikeouts but did not factor in the decision due to Tucson's late rally.

Brandon Medders (2-1) got the win for Tucson, while Brian Falkenborg (3-2) took the loss in the 10th.

Scales clubbed a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first for the Beavers. Ben Johnson followed with a single two batters later, and Knott's 13th home run of the season made it 3-0.

Scales added an RBI single in the second, scoring Lee Evans, who later doubled to start a would-be rally in the bottom of the ninth

Tucson (32-30) got single runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Conor Jackson's bloop single scored Matt Kata in the fourth, while Sergio Santos' RBI single two innings later trimmed the deficit to 4-2.

Hyzdu drilled a solo home run in the eighth, his fifth of the season, to up the Beavers' advantage to 5-2.

The Beavers continue their series with the Sidewinders Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. The first 3,000 fans in attendance receive a PGE Park replica statue as part of the fifth-anniversary season celebration that night. Reggy, a popular traveling mascot, will also be in attendance to spice up the evening's entertainment with his between-innings antics.

NOTES: The Beavers released infielder Ben Risinger on Friday and added right-handed pitcher Miguel Asencio to the roster. In three years with the Beavers, Risinger, who was batting .211 in 41 games this year, played in 206 games ... Scott Stewart, signed by the Beavers on Thursday, made his Portland debut in the eighth inning on Friday.
