Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE â The Nashville Sounds, who received widespread recognition and positive response last year for their groundbreaking Faith Night program, have added a special new outreach program for area faith-based youth groups.
This summer, the Sounds will offer a free ticket to Vacation Bible School students for one of five different games as a reward for their participation in one of the many VBS programs in the area. As part of their day at the ballpark, the students will participate in a pre-game, on-field parade with fellow VBS graduates from all over Tennessee and Kentucky.
Students qualify for an evening of free baseball if they: have perfect attendance at Vacation Bible School, have brought a friend with them to class, or are the friend who accompanied a child to VBS. Upon meeting one of these requirements, students will be awarded with one free ticket to a Sounds game.
In addition to the free ticket for the student, the Sounds are offering a special $5 meal deal that includes a ballpark lunch consisting of a hot dog, bag of chips, and soft drink. Family and friends may also purchase discounted tickets to join the celebration.
"This is just one more way we are hoping to marry the goals of church leaders with our goal of bringing new people to the ballpark," said Brent High, the Sounds' Vice President of Sale. "Our hope is that this will be an incentive churches can use that will result in hundreds of children being introduced to their congregations that don't currently have a church family."
The impact of the Sounds' new program is already being felt in local communities.
"I'm so excited to be working with the Sounds to make our Vacation Bible School a success," said Sherry Woolsey of City Road Chapel United Methodist Church. "I think it's a wonderful opportunity. It shows the organization cares about children and families in the community."
The five games designated as VBS Nights at Greer Stadium are as follows:
Friday, July 1 â 7 p.m. game vs. Memphis (Cardinals) Tuesday, July 19 â 7 p.m. game vs. Memphis (Cardinals) Sunday, July 31 â 6 p.m. game vs. Sacramento (A's) Tuesday, August 2 â 7 p.m. game vs. Sacramento (A's) Tuesday, August 16 â 7 p.m. game vs. Round Rock (Astros)
Participation in the giveaway is free to all churches and VBS classes. For further information or to get involved, church and VBS program administrators can call the Sounds at (615) 242-4371 ext. 3 or visit www.nashvillesounds.com/vbs.
