Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque (50-41) held Iowa (46-45) to one run through six innings but the I-Cubs rallied past the Isotopes with seven seventh-inning runs en route to an 8-5 win.
Rob Rasmussen allowed a solo homer to Donnie Murphy in the first but settled in tossing four scoreless innings before departing after the fifth. The southpaw allowed four hits and one run, the fewest hits and runs he has surrendered at the Triple-A level.
Lead-off man Dee Gordon walked and stole second base to open the game offensively for Albuquerque. He has 31 steals on the season and leads the Pacific Coast League. Matt Angle followed with his seventh homer of the season bringing the pair home for a 2-1 lead.
Following five scoreless frames the I-Cubs plated seven runs in the seventh to take a commanding 8-2 lead in the late innings.
Righty Geison Aguasviva (4-4, 5.62) pitched a scoreless sixth inning before surrendering the lead in the seventh and suffering the loss. Anthony Giansanti delivered a bases loaded double driving in two for a 3-2 advantage. Aguasviva went an inning plus allowing four runs on three hits.
Right-hander Gregory Infante entered in the seventh making his Isotopes debut after joining the club today from Double-A Chattanooga. He allowed three runs and two inherited runners to come across in the seventh, but tossed a scoreless eighth.
Right fielder Alex Castellanos provided power in the eighth blasting his 12th homer of the season. He moved into the 2013 team lead in long balls with his solo shot and has a home run in each of his last three games. Jeremy Moore followed with a two-run, pinch-hit single pulling the Isotopes within three, 8-5, but Albuquerque would get no closer.
Peter Moylan finished the game for Albuquerque pitchers firing a perfect ninth striking out the side. Guillermo Moscoso (5-5, 4.63) collected the win for Iowa going six innings allowing two runs in the first.
