Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (51-41) bats were held quiet throughout the night as the Oklahoma City RedHawks (49-41) took the first of three games between the two teams at Dell Diamond 5-0 Monday night.

Oklahoma City starter Asher Wojciechowski carried a perfect game through five innings and held the Express scoreless for eight frames, earning his fifth victory of the season in his second start against the Express.

The RedHawks got on the board in the third, using a RBI single off the bat of designated hitter Robbie Grossman to break the scoreless draw and give Oklahoma City a 1-0 lead. The RedHawks added to their lead when shortstop Marwin Gonzalez reached on an error by first baseman Chris McGuiness, allowing the second run of the frame to cross the plate. With two outs, Express starter Brad Mills issued a walk to center fielder George Springer that loaded the bases, but he worked out of the jam by forcing a fly out to end the inning.

Oklahoma City added to its lead in the fourth, putting three more runs on the scoreboard. A two-out rally sparked the scoring spree when Grossman singled in second baseman Jose Martinez for the third RedHawk run. With runners on first and third, Gonzalez laced a ball over center field Leury Garcia's head and all the way to the left-center wall, allowing both runs to score as Oklahoma City grabbed a 5-0 lead after four frames.

Third baseman Mike Olt broke up the perfect game in the sixth, leading off with a line drive single to right field. Wojciechowski quickly worked his way out of the inning, surrendering only the lone knock.

Mills exited after six innings on the mound, allowing five runs on seven hits. The southpaw has allowed five runs or more in three consecutive starts after holding opponents to four runs or fewer in 13 of his 14 previous outings.

Right-hander Ryan Rodebaugh worked 2.0 scoreless innings of relief before Ben Rowen struck out the side for the Express in the ninth. The offense was never able to generate a comeback attempt.

Round Rock finished the night with just two base runners, both erased by double plays, and none left on base. Mills (7-4) suffered the loss, despite turning in a quality start as three of his five runs allowed were unearned.

The Express and RedHawks continue a three-game series Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Evan Meek (4-2, 4.04 ERA) will be handed the ball for Round Rock while Oklahoma City will turn to southpaw Wade LeBlanc (0-0, 1.93 ERA). The Express will don their 1959 Austin Senators jerseys on another Turn Back Tuesday, presented by Cedar Park Premier Dentistry at Dell Diamond featuring half-price tickets.
