Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
SACRAMENTO -- Shane Peterson, Michael Choice and Michael Taylor hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning to lead the Sacramento River Cats to a 5-1 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Wednesday night at Raley Field.
The loss snapped the Topes two-game winning streak. The team's scoreless inning streak ended at 18, when the River Cats scored two runs in the first inning on a Peterson run-scoring double and Choice groundout.
Isotopes starter Rob Rasmussen (0-6) allowed all five runs in 4 1/3 innings on seven hits and four walks.
Sacramento (58-54) ended its four-game losing streak with the victory. Starter Travis Banwart allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings. That run scored in the sixth when Tony Gwynn, Jr. walked, went to second and third on consecutive wild pitches, and scored on a Chili Buss infield single. It was Buss' 81st RBI of the season.
Gwynn also made a spectacular running catch at the wall in straightaway center field in the sixth inning, which saved at least two runs and probably three runs, since the bases were loaded with two outs.
Game three of the four-game series is Thursday. Angel Castro starts for Albuquerque. Arnold Leon goes for Sacramento. First pitch is at 8:05 pm Mountain Time and all the action can be heard on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
