July 31, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

SACRAMENTO -- Matt Magill pitched six scoreless innings and three relievers completed the Albuquerque Isotopes' second consecutive shutout, 2-0, over the Sacramento River Cats on Tuesday night at Raley Field.

Magill (4-0) struck out seven, walked three and allowed three hits. Since coming off the disabled list, Magill has allowed two runs in 15 1/3 innings, while striking out 21.

Scoreless after six innings, the Topes struck out in the seventh innings when Matt Angle led off the inning with a triple to right-center. Scott Van Slyke doubled him home for the game's first run. After Chili Buss moved Van Slyke to third base, Justin Sellers hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

Moyler struck out two in a scoreless seventh inning, and De La Cruz worked the eighth.

In the ninth, Michael Choice singled to right-center, then Michael Taylor hit a slow roller up the third-base line that hit the chalk and stayed fair. Anthony Aliotti laid down a sacrifice bunt, moving the tying run into scoring position. But Guerra would get out of the jam as Hiro Nakajima grounded to third and David Freitas flied to right field to end it.

The Isotopes (63-48) took over sole possession of first place in the PCL's American Southern division as Round Rock lost. They lead third-place Oklahoma City by two games.

Game two of the four-game series is Wednesday. Rob Rasmussen starts for Albuquerque. Travis Banwart goes for Sacramento. First pitch is at 8:05 pm Mountain Time and all the action can be heard on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
