Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced Wednesday that C Eli Whiteside has been activated from the 7-day DL. In a corresponding move, C Steven Teschner has been transferred to High-A Myrtle Beach.

Whiteside has spent the entire season with the Express and was placed on the 7-day DL on July 24. The backstop was in the midst of a 3-for-32 (.094) slump, but went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in his last game before being placed on the shelf. Whiteside has hit .168 (31-185) with four home runs and 21 RBI in 56 games with the Express this season.

Teschner joined the Express three days ago when catcher Jose Felix was placed on the disabled list. He did not play in any games with the E-Train. Teschner has six games of professional baseball experience, playing one contest with the AZL Rangers and five games with the Hickory Crawdads (A).

After these moves, the current Express roster sits at 25 active players with two on the disabled list.

The Express continues a four-game set with the Fresno Grizzlies tonight at 9:05 p.m. CST. Right-hander Evan Meek (5-5, 3.86 ERA) will take the mound for Round Rock, while Fresno counters with southpaw Mike Kickham (3-7, 5.29 ERA).
