Reno Aces News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Reno rallied in the ninth to tie the game, but Oklahoma City scored the game-winning run in the latter half of the inning, and came away with a 4-3 victory.
Oklahoma City got to starting pitcher Mike Bolsinger right off the bat Wednesday evening, after scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning.
Juan Rivera gave Reno their only lead of the night with a 2-run home run in the fourth. The Aces lead was short and sweet however, as the RedHawks tied things up in the bottom half of the frame with an RBI single by outfielder Trevor Crowe.
Catcher Carlos Perez would re-gain the lead for Oklahoma City with a Sac Fly, and the RedHawks held a 3-2 advantage after six innings.
LHP Wade LeBlanc delivered a quality start for Oklahoma City, as he allowed only 2 ER in 6.2 IP. LeBlanc gave way to the RedHawks bullpen in the seventh, and the Aces hitters remained baffled until the ninth inning. However, Reno came to life in their last at-bat, and scored the game-tying run off RHP Jason Stoffel.
The Aces loaded the bases later in the ninth, and had the chance to take the lead. Stoffel would re-bound after allowing the game-tying run, and retired consecutive Aces batters to end the inning.
Evan Marshall took the mound in the bottom of the ninth, after Reno tied the game at three apiece. Designated hitter Brandon Laird would come up clutch for the RedHawks, and drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single.
All but one member of the Oklahoma City starting lineup racked up at least one hit on the night. Brad Snyder and Ed Easley each finished with two hits in the loss.
The series rolls on Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Aces will send out LHP Tyler Skaggs (6-6, 4.26 ERA) to the mound, while the RedHawks will counter with RHP Paul Clemens (1-0, 5.40 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
Reno returns home on Thursday, August 8, for an eight-game homestand. Tickets are available for all remaining Aces home games at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
