Tucson Padres News Release

Brandon Allen's two-run home run in ninth completed a comeback victory for the Padres, as Tucson defeated the Memphis Redbirds 4-2 Wednesday at AutoZone Park. The Padres finished July with a 14-14 record.

The Redbirds went ahead 1-0 in the third on former San Diego farmhand Chad Huffman's RBI double. Memphis' next run came in the fifth, when Jermaine Curtis drove in Audry Perez from third on a fielder's choice. Cameron Maybin, who was making an injury rehab appearance for the Padres, led off the sixth with a home run over the center field fence to put Tucson on the scoreboard. The home run ended a 15 inning scoreless streak for the Padres.

After Cody Decker hit a pinch-hit double off the top of the left field wall to start the eighth inning, Daniel Robertson's single brought him around to score and tie the game at two. Allen hit his 11th home run of the season, landing on the right field patio in the top of the ninth, to put the Padres ahead for good.

Reliever Kevin Quackenbush earned his sixth win of the season with two scoreless frames, while Fernando Salas lost his second game for Memphis. Redbirds starter Nick Additon allowed three hits, one run and three walks in six innings. Tucson starting pitcher Robbie Erlin also went six innings, while scattering six hits, two runs and two walks, while striking out three. Right fielder Jaff Decker left the game in the second inning with an injury after sliding into a wall in foul territory.
