
Islanders Recall Reese and Joensuu from Sound Tigers

The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Dylan Reese and forward Jesse Joensuu have been recalled from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
Reese, 26, currently leads all Sound Tigers defensemen in scoring with nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 22 games. The Pittsburgh, PA, native has also played in seven NHL games this season with the Islanders; his third call-up of the season comes on an emergency basis.
Reese made his National Hockey League debut with the Islanders last year during his third professional season, netting four points (two goals, two assists) in 19 games. After a four year collegiate career at Harvard University, he was drafted by the New York Rangers in the seventh round, 209th overall, of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The Islanders acquired the 6-1, 201-pound blue-liner in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 1, 2010.
Joensuu, 23, returns for his second stint with the Islanders this season. He posted three points (one goal, two assists) in 14 NHL games from Nov. 20 ¬" Dec. 23. Joensuu also has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 18 AHL games this season with the Sound Tigers.
The Islanders drafted Joensuu in the second round, 60th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. The Pori, Finland, native made his NHL debut in 2008-09 during his first full season in North America. He ranked second on the Sound Tigers last season with 48 points (14 goals, 34 assists) in 70 games, while also seeing action in eleven National Hockey League games with the Islanders and posting one goal with a +4 rating.
