Mike Angelidis had two goals and an assist and captainChris Durno added a goal and two assists, but the Norfolk Admirals (18-7-6-2) fell in overtime to the Charlotte Checkers (19-10-1-3), 4-3, on Thursday night in front of a season-high crowd of 5,055 at Norfolk Scope Arena. The Admirals hit the road for a pair of games this weekend beginning on Saturday night with a 7:05 matchup against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Dustin Tokarski made 24 saves for Norfolk, who battled back from a 2-0 deficit and took a third period lead before falling in overtime.

The Checkers took a 1-0 lead 4:22 into the game. Brett Carson sent a feed from the right point that deflected off the skate of Zac Dalpe at the bottom of the right circle and bounded into the slot. The puck went directly to Casey Borer, who sent a shot past the right leg of Tokarski.

Charlotte doubled its lead less than nine minutes later. Jerome Samson sent a pass from the right circle across the crease to Chris Terry on the opposite side. Terry one-timed the backdoor feed past the outstretched right leg of Tokarski at 13:02 for a 2-0 Checkers lead.

The Admirals battled back to tie the game with a pair of goals in the final minute of the first period. Angelidis made it 2-1 with his first goal of the game. He followed his initial shot from the left circle behind the net before emerging near the bottom of the right circle. He threw the puck toward the goal and it deflected into the net off a Checkers skate in the crease at 19:27.

Norfolk tied the game at 2-2 just 16 seconds later on Durno's tenth goal of the season. Pierre-Cedric Labrie sent a backhand pass from the bottom of the right circle toward the goalmouth. Durno, who had been speeding through the slot, stopped suddenly at the top of the crease and redirected the puck on his forehand over the right leg of Checkers goaltender Justin Pogge at 19:43.

The Admirals went up 3-2 with 10:35 left in the third period on Angelidis' second goal of the game. Angelidis accepted a pass from Durno in the right circle and sent a wrist shot between the blocker and right leg of Pogge for his eleventh goal of 2010-11.

The Checkers leveled the score at 3-3 less than five minutes later on a power play goal. After the Admirals blocked a Charlotte shot in the low slot, Jon Matsumoto found the loose puck underneath a fallen defender and sent a shot past Tokarski with 5:34 remaining in regulation to force overtime.

Just 25 seconds into overtime, Drayson Bowman took the puck at his own blueline on a partial breakaway and sent a wrist shot past Tokarski to win the game for the visitors.

Dustin Tokarski (28 shots, 24 saves) was saddled with the loss. Justin Pogge (36 shots, 33 saves) earned the win.

Norfolk was 0-4 on the power play. Charlotte was 1-4.
