Stapleton Heads Back to Atlanta

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled center TIM STAPLETON from the Chicago Wolves.

STAPLETON, who tallied an assist in the Wolves 3-2 shootout win over Toronto last night, has appeared in 21 American Hockey League contests with the Wolves and San Antonio Rampage this season, recording eight goals and 16 points. He has also skated in eight National Hockey League games with Atlanta since being signed on Nov. 30.

Last year, the 28-year-old forward ranked second on the Wolves and shared 10th in the league with a career-high 30 goals and ranked second on Chicago with 59 points in 73 games. He also shared third on the team with 29 assists and paced Wolves forwards with a +22 plus/minus rating. The Forest Park, Ill., native also notched two goals in six outings with the Thrashers last year.

Overall, STAPLETON has registered three goals in 18 NHL games with Atlanta and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and 159 points (66G, 93A) in 173 AHL outings with the Wolves, Rampage, Toronto Marlies and Portland Pirates.
