The Pigs (38-34) play the finale a four-game series against the last-place Toledo Mud Hens (31-43) -- still the two hottest teams in the International league. With a 10-6 win last night, the Pigs have started 2-1 on the eight-game, West Division homestand. The Pigs have won nine of their last 12 contests and have gone 22-10 in their last 32 affairs after hitting their low-water mark of 16-24 on May 16... The Mud Hens -- Detroit's top affiliate -- have dropped two straight affairs following their season-high, seven-game winning streak. Still, the Hens have won 11 of their last 14 games. In fact, they are 16-7 since bottoming-out at 15-36 on May 27.

LHP Raul Valdes (1-2, 4.20) will start for LHV against RHP Shawn Hill (1-8, 5.82).

First-Pitch is at 7 p.m. at Fifth-Third Field...Next up for LHV is a four-game series against Columbus (34-39), which has lost four straight contests and has gone just 6-21 since reaching an apex of 28-18 on May 21.

ONE WILD RIDE:

LHV has now taken the lead in the Wild Card race (+0.5) for the first time this season and for the first time since 7/17/12... LHV, which passed BUF and moved into 2nd place in the North on 6/18, remains 5.5 GB of PAW in the North... They have made this move by going 22-10 since 5/17 and after falling to a season-worst 16-24 and a season-high 8.5 GB... The Pigs had also fallen to 5th as late as 5/2.
