IronPigs Snap Three-Game Losing Streak

(Allentown, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (60-50) snapped their three-game losing streak on Saturday evening as they beat the Charlotte Knights (43-67) 9-7. The IronPigs registered 13 hits in the game.

The IronPigs opened the bottom of the first inning with five runs against Tobias Myers (1-11) to take a 5-0 lead. Johan Camargo hit a two-run single, and Will Toffey followed up with a three-run home run. The home run for Toffey was his sixth of the season. Myers left the game after pitching just 2/3 of the inning.

Ricardo Sanchez (6-4) allowed a run in the top of the second inning as Blake Rutherford scored on a bases-loaded walk by Mark Payton. The Knights scored two more runs against Sanchez in the top of the sixth inning as Tyler Neslony hit a two-run single that scored Adam Haseley and Zach Remillard.

The IronPigs followed up with four runs against Anderson Severino in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 9-3 lead. Ali Castillo walked with the bases loaded to score Toffey, and Chris Sharpe hit a two-run single that scored Dustin Peterson and Justin Williams. Yairo Munoz added an RBI single that scored Castillo.

Charlotte scored four runs against Jace Fry in the top of the eighth inning to cut Lehigh Valley's lead to 9-6 as Payton hit a three-run double and Jake Burger hit an RBI single. Jakob Hernandez earned his fourth save of the season as he retired the side in the top of the ninth inning.

'The IronPigs and Charlotte Knights wrap up their six-game series on Sunday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
