
Pitching Strong in Mud Crawlers' Victory

TOLEDO - The Toledo Mud Crawlers defeated the Omaha Storm Chasers 7-2 on Saturday night at Fifth Third Field.
Due to injuries and promotions, the Mud Hens pitching staff has changed in and out all season long. Tonight was no different as projected starter Daniel Norris was promoted to Detroit and pitched for the Tigers yesterday in Chicago. The bullpen stepped up and pitched very well. Drew Carlton got the start for the Mud Crawlers on Jeep Fest Weekend, pitching 3.0 innings and allowing one run on two hits, no walks and six strikeouts. Shea Spitzbarth followed Carlton, picking up the win while pitching 2.0 innings, walking one and striking out four batters. Spitzbarth is now 4-0 on the season. Zac Houston grabbed his first hold, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing one run on one hit, two walks and one strikeout. Luis Castillo notched his 11th hold pitching 1.0 inning, allowing one hit and two strikeouts. Miguel Del Pozo pitched 1.0 inning, surrendering one hit and two strikeouts. Nick Vincent closed out the game, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing one hit and striking out two.
Daz Cameron led the way offensively, picking up three hits, one of which being a double and scoring twice. Josh Lester hit his 20th home run and his 71st and 72nd RBI on the season, tallying three hits, being the home run and two singles. John Valente smacked a two-run double and stole a base, going 1-3. Brendon Davis picked up a double, an RBI and two runs scored on his 1-2 night, including a walk and his sacrifice fly. Dustin Garneau tallied a double and scored a run. Zack Short and Ryan Kreidler each picked up a single, while Jamie Westbrook reached on an error and scored a run.
What's Next - The Toledo Mud Hens will host the Omaha Storm Chasers for their final matchup of the season. The Mud Hens claimed the series victory, but will look to claim the season series as it currently sits at 9-8 in favor of Toledo. First pitch of the series finale will be on Sunday, August 14th at 4:05 pm EST
