IronPigs Leave Durham With a Series Split

(Durham, NC) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (54-45) capped off their series with the Durham Bulls (54-45) with a 7-2 win on Sunday evening. The IronPigs and Bulls are in a three-way tie with Jacksonville for first place in the International League East Division.

The Bulls took a 1-0 lead against Ricardo Sanchez (5-3) in the bottom of the first inning as Miles Mastrobuoni hit a sacrifice fly that scored Vidal Brujan. The IronPigs responded with five runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead. Justin Williams hit an RBI double against JT Chargois (0-1) that scored Josh Ockimey. Rafael Marchan hit a two-run double that scored Chris Sharpe and Williams. Scott Kingery followed up with a two-run home run against Phoenix Sanders.

Sharpe extended Lehigh Valley's lead to 6-1 against Calvin Faucher in the top of the sixth inning as he hit an RBI single. Durham scored their second run of the game against James Marvel in the bottom of the sixth inning. Brujan scored on a groundball double-play. The 'Pigs took a 7-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning as Nick Maton hit an RBI single against Chris Muller that scored Kingery. Maton extended his hitting streak to seven games.

Jonathan Hennigan, Zach Warren, and Nick Duron each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

The IronPigs return home to Coca-Cola Park to begin a 12-game homestand starting on Tuesday morning against the Syracuse Mets. First pitch is scheduled for 11:35 a.m.
