
Rivera Earns Second Consecutive Two-Hit Game in Loss at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (49-49) earned a series split with the Syracuse Mets (45-54) after a 4-1 loss on Sunday. The Chasers now lead the all-time series 17-6 after the only six games the two teams will play this season.
Syracuse opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first. In all, Syracuse sent eight men to the plate and scored three runs on four hits. The S-Mets forced left-hander Drew Parrish to throw 39 pitches in the first inning.
Right-fielder Brewer Hicklen reached in the second inning with a single. Hicklen would get picked off trying to take a bigger lead, and Omaha trailed 3-0 through the first two innings.
With two away in the third, first baseman Angelo Castellano hit a single up the middle before center fielder Drew Waters reached on a Syracuse fielding error. The Chasers struck out for the sixth time in the first three innings to end the frame.
A pair of S-Mets runners walked to start the bottom of the third inning, chasing Parrish (Loss, 2-5) out of the game through two innings. Each outfielder caught a ball to help left-hander Eric Skoglund get out of the inning without allowing a run.
Third baseman Emmanuel Rivera would hit a single in the sixth, giving him his second multi-hit game since rejoining the team from Kansas City. He would end up stranded to leave the deficit at two.
Omaha put just one runner on base between the seventh and eighth innings, trailing by two.
Syracuse plated an insurance run in the eighth, putting the score at 4-1 heading into the ninth.
The Storm Chasers went down in order with the S-Mets securing the 4-1 win.
Omaha will return to Werner Park for a six-game set against St. Paul next week, with first pitch on Tuesday scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Coverage will start at 6:45 p.m. on the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.
