ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Indians surrendered an early 3-0 lead and - following a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth inning - lost the fifth game of a six-game set at Toledo last night in the 10th inning, 6-5. The Indians scored first for the 53rd time this season, with a throwing error on a pickoff attempt of Jack Suwinski on third base allowing the first run of the game to score. In the next inning, a run-scoring double play and an RBI double by Suwinski extended the lead, 3-0. Toledo sparked its comeback in the bottom of the sixth, with a leadoff homer by Josh Lester and two-out single by Derek Hill bringing the home team within one run. After Taylor Davis plated an insurance run with a double in the either, Toledo quickly rebounded and scored three runs on a trio of RBI singles to take the lead. Suwinski then launched his fourth home run with Indianapolis to knot the game at 5-5 and push the game to extras, providing Indy's last spark of offense before a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the 10th gave Toledo it's second walk-off win this week.

JACK JACK: Jack Suwinski was a triple away from the cycle in last night's game, going 3-for-5 with a double and solo home run to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning. It was his fourth home run in nine games with the Indians this season and his 21st longball between Double-A Altoona (3), Indianapolis and Pittsburgh (14). The three-hit performance was the second consecutive multi-hit game for Suwinski, and in the past two games he is 5-for-10 with three runs scored. It was also his fifth season-high three hit game this season and first since 6/19 with Pittsburgh vs. San Francisco when he launched three home runs in as many at-bats.

MARCANO CAN: Tucupita Marcano matched Jack Suwinski with three hits last night to extend his hitting streak to nine games, just one game shy of tying the team-high for this season after appearing in just 13 games. He has a hit in 12 of 13 games - four of which have multi-hit contests - with Indianapolis since being optioned by Pittsburgh on July 5. He has shined as Indy's leadoff hitter, reaching base safely in all 13 games and has reached 26 times (18 hits, 8 walks) in 62 plate appearances, good for a .419 on-base percentage. Marcano has walked eight times compared to 10 strikeouts, putting the ball in play over 80 percent of the time.

BE LIKE MIKE: Mike Burrows spun his best start of the season for Indianapolis last night, surrendering just two hits over 4.0 shutout innings at Toledo. He was just three outs shy of his first Triple-A win in seven outings (six starts) with Indy this season, leaving the game with the Indians holding a 1-0 lead. Burrows, who is currently rated as Pittsburgh's No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline, was promoted from Double-A Altoona to Indianapolis on June 16 following a stellar start to the season. Since, he is 0-2 with a 5.33 ERA (15er/25.1ip) and 26 strikeouts with the Indians. Last night was just his second scoreless Triple-A outing, following 7/12 at Columbus when he tossed 2.0 hitless innings out of the bullpen.

DAVIS DOES IT: Taylor Davis recorded two doubles for the first time since 5/9/21 at Jacksonville last night. He now has multi-hit games in each of his last two games and three of his last four since 7/24 vs, St. Paul. In eight July games, Davis is hitting .333 (8-for-24) with five RBI and more walks (6) than strikeouts (5) to raise his average on the season to .274 (26-for-95). Overall, Davis puts the ball into play and avoids the strikeout more often than not. In 107 plate appearances this season, he has just 17 strikeouts and 12 walks.

TODAY: The Indians will look to leave Toledo with a split in the six-game series against the Mud Hens today at 2:05 PM ET at Fifth Third Field. The two squads are meeting for the second time this season and the first time at Toledo. The teams first met this season at Victory Field on May 17-22, and the Indians took the series victory with wins in four of the six contests. For the second time this series, Roansy Contreras will take the mound after surrendering one hit (a solo home run) in 2.0 innings on Tuesday. Today marks the young right-hander's third consecutive Triple-A start vs. Toledo, in which he has allowed three earned runs over 7.2 innings. Countering for Toledo is major league rehabber Beau Brieske, who leapt over Triple-A to make his MLB debut this season and has never faced Indianapolis.

ROANSY DAY: Roansy Contreras will make his eighth start with Indianapolis this season and second against Toledo today. On Tuesday to open the series, he tossed 2.0 one-run innings with the only blemish on his line coming via a solo home run in the second inning. It was his first appearance across teams since tossing 6.0 one-run innings with seven strikeouts on 7/7 (1) with Pittsburgh at Cincinnati, after which he was optioned to Indianapolis. He has yet to record a Triple-A win but is 0-1 with a 2.82 ERA (7er/22.1ip) and 26 strikeouts in six starts with Indianapolis this season. In contrast, he is 3-2 with a 3.78 ERA (21er/50.0ip) and 50 strikeouts in 12 appearances (nine starts) with Pittsburgh.

THIS DAY IN 1969: Right-hander Gary Nolan collected 13 strikeouts in a 5-2 complete-game win vs. Iowa. Nolan served up a two-run homer in the third inning which put Indy behind 2-1, but the Indians scored four times in their half of the fifth. Nolan surrendered just two hits and one walk in a game that lasted just 1 hour and 45 minutes. Shortstop Dave Concepción and right fielder Bernie Carbo each scored runs for Indy, and first baseman Clarence Jones cleared the bases with a triple to lead the offense.
