Rochester Red Wings News Release
The Rochester Red Wings continue to free fall, dropping the series finale against Scranton 9-2 Sunday afternoon and extending their losing streak to 11 straight games.
RHP Franklyn Kilome made his third start for Rochester this season, giving up seven hits and seven runs in 4.1 innings of work.
Scranton logged two homers in the first inning, the first on a lead off solo-shot from Esteven Florial, to take a 2-0 lead. They kept their foot on the gas with a second-inning RBI single that put the Wings in a 3-0 hole. They scored another pair of runs in the third before Rochester got on the board in the fourth. RailRiders LHP Ken Waldichuk walked RF Donovan Casey with the bases loaded, and C Chris Herrmann logged an RBI single that scored DH Riley Adams before Scranton closed out a two-run fourth inning for Rochester.
Ronald Guzman crushed his sixth long ball of the year on a 3-0 count as the RailRiders opened up an 8-2 lead in the fifth inning.
LHP Alberto Baldonado, RHP Reed Garrett (ML-rehab), and LHP Matt Cronin all saw the mound, giving up two hits and two runs collectively. Cronin allowed the RailRiders to register their fourth homer of the day, this one a deep bomb from Oswald Peraza that put Scranton ahead 9-2 in the ninth.
Scranton RF Estevan Florial went 3-for-5 at the plate with a homer and an RBI in the win. It was his first three-hit game since July 1 against Buffalo.
Sunday's loss marks Rochester's third suffered sweep of the season and their second straight, as they dropped a three-game mini-series to Buffalo from July 22-24. The Wings' 11-game losing streak is the longest in the International League this year and is Rochester's longest since they lost 11 straight in 2021.
The Wings will take a much-needed day off on Monday before traveling to Ohio for a six-game series against the Columbus Clippers beginning on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
