IronPigs denied the sweep at McCoy Stadium

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (14-5) were denied the chance at a sweep on Thursday afternoon at McCoy Stadium. Rusney Castillo's three-run double off Kyle Dohy (0-1) in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Pawtucket Red Sox (8-11) a 5-2 victory.

Cole Sturgeon put Pawtucket on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning by hitting a solo home run off Tyler Viza. Sam Travis gave the Red Sox a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning by adding a solo home run of his own.

Andrew Romine hit a sacrifice fly off Erasmo Ramirez in the top of the third inning to get Lehigh Valley on the scoreboard, 2-1. Romine extended his hitting streak to five games by tying the game at 2-2 with an RBI single off Ramirez in the top of the fifth inning.

Viza pitched four innings in a spot start after Enyel De Los Santos was promoted to Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon. Josh Martin and Tyler Gilbert each tossed scoreless innings in relief.

Bobby Poyner (1-0) got the win for Pawtucket as he pitched two scoreless innings in relief. Jenrry Mejia earned his fourth save of the season by closing out the game in the top of the ninth inning.

The IronPigs return to Coca-Cola Park on Friday evening to play the Buffalo Bisons. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
