Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Wappingers Falls, NY - In a game that started at 6:04 p.m., and took 15 innings, the Aberdeen IronBirds fell to the Hudson Valley Renegades 2-1 on Monday evening. Dioni Dominguez took the loss for the IronBirds lost on a walk-off wild pitch.

Augey Bill got the start for the IronBirds, his first start since August of 2012. He went 4.2 innings, keeping the Renegades off the scoreboard. He left with runners on first and third and reliever Brady Adamek came on and, after hitting a batter, got out of the jam.

Aberdeen would get on the board in the eighth. Andrickson Zorrilla reached on a leadoff single and was safe at second after an error on the Hudson Valley first baseman, as a force out throw went into left field. Zorrilla advanced to third and would score on a Jay Gonzalez ground out.

Hudson Valley would have a chance in the ninth. Nik Nowottnick came on looking for the save, his first appearance since taking the loss on Friday night. Unfortunately for the IronBirds, the Renegades would push a run across with two outs, tying the game at one.

The teams would battle through five extra innings before the Renegades got a runner to third with two outs. With David Garcia at the plate, Dominguez threw a wild pitch and it allowed Elias Torres to come in to score, giving the Renegades their third walk-off win of the opening series, 2-1.

Dominguez took the loss, and Isaac Gil earned his second win of the season for the Renegades.

Aberdeen travels to Staten Island for a 7:00 p.m. tilt with the Yankees. RHP Nick Cunningham is scheduled to pitch for the IronBirds, while the Yankees will counter with RHP Dillon McNamara.
