Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Bundy Good, But Takes Loss

RHP Dylan Bundy, making a rehab appearance for the Aberdeen IronBirds, pitched five innings yesterday against the Hudson Valley Renegades. He threw 65 pitches, allowing five hits and one run (it was earned), while striking out six without surrendering a walk. He allowed a lead off single to David Garcia in the bottom of the third inning. The next batter, Douglas Duran, followed with a ground rule double to left, putting runners on second and third with no outs. Bralin Jackson followed with an RBI ground out, and it gave Hudson Valley a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the day.

Bats Go Quiet

After collecting twenty hits in the first two games, the IronBirds bats cooled off yesterday, and they had just four hits on the day, scattering singles in the fourth, sixth, and ninth, and adding a double in the seventh. Aberdeen did score twice in the top of the ninth inning, and made it interesting when they loaded the bases with one out. They were able to score when Jonah Heim lifted a fly ball to deep right, scoring Steve Wilkerson. Manny Hernandez would score on a wild pitch with Cory Segui at the plate, and the IronBirds would get no further.

It's A Long Road...Trip

Following tonight's game at Dutchess Stadium, the IronBirds will head to Staten Island for a three game series with the Yankees. That series will run from Tuesday through Thursday before the IronBirds come to Ripken Stadium for their season opener on Friday night.

On the mound tonight...

LHP Augey Bill will get the start for the IronBirds. He was selected by the Orioles in the 39th round of the 2013 draft out of the University of Arizona. The Tucson native pitched for the Gulf Coast League Orioles last season to begin his professional career. He went 3-0 there in eight appearances before getting the call up to Aberdeen. He joined the team in Vermont last season, and went 2-0 in eight relief appearances as an IronBird. He will be opposed by LHP Oscar Armenta for the Hudson Valley Renegades. Armenta will be making his first career appearance for the Renegades. He pitched with Princeton last season, going 2-3 in 19 games, all of them relief appearances. Tonight will be his 11th career start and first since 2012.
