Iowa Cubs News Release
DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (66-46) won their season-high sixth straight game, taking game one over the Louisville Bats (60-53) by a score of 5-3, Tuesday at Principal Park.
Neither team scored for the first three innings, as Nick Neidert and Hunter Greene went pitch-for-pitch with each other. Neidert cracked first, as Louisville got a two-run home run from Jason Vosler and an RBI triple from Michael Siani to take a 3-0 lead in the fourth.
Iowa got their first hit and run in the fourth as well, when Alexander Canario plated a run to make it 3-1. In his third start on Major League rehab with Louisville, Greene spun 5.2 innings of one-run ball, allowing just one hit and three walks while striking out nine.
Iowa got their second run of the game in the bottom of the seventh, when Chase Strumpf drove in Miles Mastrobuoni with a sacrifice fly.
The I-Cubs tied it in the eighth on an RBI single from Canario, driving in Yonathan Perlaza who led the inning off with a double. It stayed tied until the 10th, when after a scoreless inning from Chris Clarke, Iowa earned their seventh walk-off win of the year.
They did so on a two-run home run from the top prospect in the Cubs' system, as Pete Crow-Armstrong clubbed his fourth home run with Iowa. The deep fly propelled Iowa to their season-high sixth straight win.
POSTGAME NOTES:
