
Railriders Earn 6-5 Win Over Red Sox

Worcester, MA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders rallied back for a 6-5 win over the Worcester Red Sox. The team hit three home runs thanks to Austin Wells, Franchy Cordero, and Jake Lamb.
A pitcher's duel ensued from the onset as both starters tossed five scoreless innings.
Worcester got on the board first putting up five in the sixth inning. Stephen Scott launched a three-run home run over the monster in right field. Ronaldo Hernandez and Bradley Zimmer were hit by pitches to reach. Red Sox #3 prospect Ceddanne Rafaela sent them both in with a triple to the corner for a 5-0 advantage.
The RailRiders cut into the lead in the seventh. Everson Pereira ran out an infield single and Carlos Narvaez sent him home with an RBI double.
Austin Wells crushed his first Triple-A homer of the season 473-feet to right center field. SWB trailed 5-2.
The visiting team went into the top of the ninth with the bats alive. Wilmer Difo singled on a line drive and Franchy Cordero smoked a ball 461-feet to right center. Then, down to their final out, Jake Lambcame up with a long ball to left field to tie the game at five apiece. Brandon Lockridge continued the frame with a base hit. Oswald Peraza followed with a ground rule double to send Lockridge racing home for a 6-5 lead.
Will Warren got the start going five shutout innings, allowing a three run home run on the final pitch of his outing. He tied a season-high eight strikeouts. Zac Houston allowed two runs in his inning of work. Zach McAllister recorded three strikeouts in his frame. Greg Weissert (W, 4-3) and Ron Marinaccio (S, 1) slammed the door shut in the eighth and ninth.
Shane Drohan tossed six innings of shutout ball with ten strikeouts.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Worcester meet up tomorrow in a 12:15 pm contest. Righty Clayton Beeter is set to get the ball for the day game.
