Iowa Cubs News Release

FRESNO, CA - The Iowa Cubs (37-66) dropped a 10-inning contest as the Fresno Grizzlies (61-43) netted a 5-4 walk-off victory, Thursday at Chukchansi Park.

The Grizzlies were able to get to starter Jen-Ho Tseng in the first inning, playing small ball to get the leadoff runner home after a single. Iowa wasn't able to fight back until the fifth. Taylor Davis drew a one-out walk and Bijan Rademacher used the momentum, knocking a single. Trey Martin reached on an error to load the bases before Jacob Hannemann came through with a sacrifice fly to put Iowa on the board and lock the game 1-1.

The I-Cubs' offense heated in the sixth as a one-out Mark Zagunis walk sparked a rally. Ryan Court extended his hitting streak to 20 games with a double that scored Zagunis from first to give Iowa the lead. Court's hitting streak is the longest for an I-Cub since Willson Contreras matched the feat in 2016.

The sixth-inning brigade continued with an RBI single from Jason Vosler. Rademacher clubbed his second hit of the game and Martin brought in Vosler on a bunt-single as the I-Cubs captured a 4-1 edge.

A two-run AJ Reed bomb pulled Fresno within a run in the sixth and the home team locked it up on an error in the seventh to eventually force extras.

Iowa was held in the 10th and Tyler White was the hero in the bottom of the inning as he cracked an RBI single to give Fresno the walk-off win.

Tseng logged one of his best starts of the season, allowing three runs - two of them earned - through six innings. Craig Brooks (1-1) was handed the loss and Brendan McCurry (5-4) took the win.

Iowa starts a series against the Sacramento River Cats tomorrow with a 9:05 p.m. CT first pitch at Raley Field. Follow the action on AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com.
