Reno Aces News Release

Today's Game: Coming off an exciting come-from-behind victory in New Orleans Thursday night, the Aces travel to Round Rock, Texas looking to get back to .500 on this road trip. Greg Gross will send right-hander Taylor Clarke to the mound tonight and take on Richelson Pena. As a team, Reno's offense came alive last night, plating11 runs on 12 hits with a Yasmany Tomas Grand Slam. Every Aces starter reached base in the contest and four Aces finished with multi-hit performances.

Last Game: The Aces stole the series finale against the New Orleans Baby Cakes Thursday night in extra innings. The Aces entered the top of the 9th inning down by one run and Socrates Brito set to leadoff. Brito gave Reno a glimmer of home with a double into center field. He advanced to third base on a throwing error by New Orleans center fielder Isaac Galloway. Jack Reinheimer scored Brito in the following at-bat with a deep sacrifice fly ball to right field to tie the game at six. The combination of Jack Reinheimer, Christian Walker and Kevin Cron gave the Aces an 11-7 advantage with two hits and a fielding error.

Grand Slamwich: Entering last night's contest, Kevin Cron was the only Aces player in 2018 to hit a grand slam (6/27 vs. Salt Lake). Yasmany Tomas' blast was the 44th in Aces franchise history. Reno hit five slams last season (Christian Walker, Oswaldo Arcia, Carlos Rivero, Ildemaro Vargas and Zach Borenstein). Ed Easley (6/18/13 vs. Fresno, 1,864 days apart) and Yasmany Tomas are the only Aces in franchise history with pinch-hit grand slams.

Crowd Control: The Aces enter this weekend expecting large crowds at Dell Diamond. So far this season, the Express faithful have come out in droves - averaging 8,828 fans per game. They have welcomed a league-best 459,057 total fans in 52 openings this season and led the Pacific Coast League in overall attendance last season with 610,681 total fans.

For the Fans: As a part of Fan Appreciation Weekend, the first 1,000 fans in attendance on Saturday, September 1st can get their own Didi Gregorius Yankees Pinstripes/Aces bobblehead! Gregorius played 57 games for Reno in 2014 and hit .310 with 101 total bases. Last season with the Yankees he hit .287 in 136 games with 25 home runs and 87 RBI.

Soccer in the Biggest Little City: Reno 1868 FC is slated to host their Major League Soccer affiliate, San Jose, at Greater Nevada Field in 2019. Both clubs will meet on Feb. 9, 2019 with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Overall, this will be the third friendly between the two clubs, with both meeting as recently as February 10, 2018 at Avaya Stadium. San Jose won that match 4-0. Since joining forces in 2017, Reno has seen four of its players sign with San Jose, including Sparks native Kevin Partida, who joined San Jose on loan in June. Players from both squads have helped contribute to each team's respective seasons.

Extra Extra: The Aces have played the fewest extra-inning games of any Pacific Coast League team this season (3). Reno holds a record of 2-1 in those contests with Jake Barrett earning both wins in relief. Last season, Reno finished 6-8 in extra innings and in 2016 went 6-1 to post the best winning percentage in the league.
