Reno Aces News Release
Round Rock, TX. - Taylor Clarke, Silvino Bracho and Jimmie Sherfy combined to shutout the Round Rock Express in game one of the four-game series. Taylor Clarke got the start for Greg Gross tonight. Clarke went six innings, allowed three hits and struck out four to earn his 9th victory of the season. Silvino Bracho came on with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning and struck out the side to work out of the jam. In the bottom of the eighth, Bracho struck out the side again to set a new career-high in strikeouts. Jimmie Sherfy worked the final frame to pick up his 13th save of the year. Kristopher Negron led the Aces offensively with a 2-for-4 performance and a home run in the top of the sixth. The win improves Reno to a record of 52-53 with 35 games left in the regular season.
Negron's solo blast off Richelson Pena in the top of the sixth inning gave the Aces a 1-0 advantage. With newcomer Alberto Rosario batting, Rey Fuentes scored on a wild pitch by James Jones in the top of the seventh inning. Socrates Brito gave the Aces a little more cushion with a hard-hit single to center field scoring Yasmany Tomas. Three runs were all the Aces needed to secure the victory tonight. Reno completed their first shutout of the season and left Round Rock as the only team in the Pacific Coast League who has not thrown a shutout this season. The Aces and Express will battle again tomorrow night at Dell Diamond beginning at 5:05 p.m. Pacific Time.
