Kannapolis, NC (September 3, 2009) - The Kannapolis Intimidators ended West Virginia's bid at a third consecutive post season birth as they came from behind to defeat the Power 4-3 on Thursday night at FieldCrest Cannon Stadium to clinch the second half title in the South Atlantic League's Northern Division.

Kannapolis won the game despite recording just four hits. Their first hit was a two-out single from Josh Phegley which scored Kenny Williams in the bottom of the first inning. West Virginia plated their trio of runs in the top of the third. They used five hits to score all three runs. Tony Sanchez, Calvin Anderson and Quincy Latimore all ripped run scoring singles, but Latimore's base knock was West Virginia's final hit of the contest.

Kannapolis began their comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning. Diego Moreno hit Dan Black with a pitch before walking Ryan Lee and then plunked Kenny Williams with a fastball to load the bases. Eduardo Escobar then singled into center field to score the tying runs. Luis Sierra delivered the knockout punch in the eighth inning on a solo homerun off Moreno to seal the deal.

Kyle Bellamy (2-0) struck out the side in the eighth inning, which was his only inning of relief to score the victory and Dan Remenowsky (24) tossed a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save. Moreno (1-3) was tagged for three runs on two hits over two innings of relief and suffered the loss. In his final start of the season, Quinton Miller turned in his finest performance, holding the Intimidators to just a run on two hits with four strikeouts over six innings.

West Virginia fell to 64-69 overall, and 37-26 in the second half after the loss, while the Intimidators improved to 80-55 overall and 43-22 in the second half after the win. Tony Sanchez extended his on base streak to 19 games with a walk and a base hit while Bobby Spain singled in his first at bat to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
