CHARLESTON, SC -- South Atlantic League President Eric Krupa has announced the recipients of 2009 South Atlantic League Outstanding Achievement Awards with the RiverDogs being recognized with several citations. All 16 teams, along with the umpires, participated in the voting for the awards.

The RiverDogs were selected to be the inaugural recipients of the Excellence in Marketing Award and Harold Craw was named the league's recipient of the Community Relations Director of the Year Award.

Previously, head groundskeeper Mike Williams was announced as the Sports Turf Manager of the Year while his field at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park was named the recipient of the SAL's Best Playing Field Award.

The awards will be presented on October 14, 2009 at the SAL Fall Meetings at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington, Ky.

"It is gratifying to see the RiverDogs' front office recognized for their collective hard work, and I'm especially happy that Harold Craw is being honored for his community relations work," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "Harold has done a fantastic job in our community, and it is wonderful for him to get the recognition he deserves.

"Further, we're also proud of our front office team being recognized for our work in marketing as we continually try to encompass fun with our responsibilities and it shows," Echols added. "We're proud of our accomplishments but we also know we wouldn't be where we are without our loyal fans. We can't thank them enough."

By winning the SAL's Excellence in Marketing Award, the RiverDogs are automatically nominated for Larry MacPhail Promotional Trophy, which is awarded annually by Minor League Baseball to the team with the most outstanding promotional effort. The award's recipient is announced during baseball's winter meetings.
