Indianapolis Indians News Release
COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Indianapolis Indians piled up 17 runs on a Victory Field-era record 23 hits to roll to a 17-5 victory over the Columbus Clippers on Friday night. Seven different Tribe batters enjoyed multi-hit nights, and all but one batter recorded at least one run batted in.
Indianapolis (10-8) wasted no time and scored four runs in the first inning. The inning was highlighted by Jose Osuna's two-run double to left field. Osuna's two-bagger extended his hitting streak to 14 games with the Tribe.
Kevin Kramer belted a no-doubter of a home run with Jordan Luplow aboard in the third inning. Kramer's blast was his first at the Triple-A level, and it cleared the video board at Huntington Park in right-center field. Kramer would add a double and single later in the night and finished with three hits.
Austin Meadows enjoyed a career night, and he belted his first home run of the season in the fourth inning. It was a solo blast that expanded the Indians lead to 7-3. Meadows finished the night with the homer, two singles and one double. The four-hit effort left him just a triple shy of the cycle.
Osuna launched his second home run of the season to the batter's eye in the fifth inning; it was part of a seven-run frame. Christopher Bostick doubled home two runs in the inning. The Indians led 14-3 after the fifth. Bostick was one of eight different Indianapolis batters who drove home at least one run in the rout.
The Tribe added three more runs in the sixth inning to complete their scoring. Columbus (8-11) added a pair of runs late to give the game its final margin.
The Indians continue their six-game road swing in Columbus on Saturday night with first pitch set for 7:15 p.m.
