Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Right fielder Michael Ryan blasted a pair of solo home runs and all nine Indianapolis starters recorded a least one hit in a wild 15-10 win over Ottawa before a season-best 12,862 fans on the third-and-final Baseball in Education Day Monday afternoon at Victory Field.

The Indians improve to 22-14 on the season and 12-10 at home with their third consecutive victory, while the Lynx fall to 17-17 overall and 8-12 on the road. Indianapolis, which has also won 10 of its last 15 affairs, continues to lead the International League's West Division.

The homestand finale was certainly a day for number watching. The Tribe established new season highs for runs, hits (20), extra-base hits (6), home runs (3), total bases (32) and RBI (13) in a game. Indianapolis and Ottawa also combined for 25 runs and 35 base knocks in the two-hour and 48-minute thriller.

Ryan (3-for-5, 2 HR, 3 R, 2 RBI), who entered the contest with a .137 batting average and no roundtrippers this season, was one of six Indians to turn in a multi-hit performance. SS Brian Bixler (4-for-5, 1 2B, 2 R, 1 RBI) led the way, while 1B Yurendell de Caster (3-for-4, 1 2B, 1 R, 2 RBI), 2B Luis Ordaz (3-for-5, 2 R, 1 RBI), CF Rajai Davis (2-for-5, 1 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI) and LF Chris Aguila (2-for-5, 1 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI) also chipped in.

Like a heavyweight fight, the two clubs exchanged punches until Indianapolis took a lead it would not relinquish in the seventh. Davis knotted the tilt with a two-run double to left after Ordaz drilled a single to center and PH Humberto Cota drew a base on balls. Davis stole his 20th base of the season moments later and came around to score on a Lynx throwing error.

Ryan cleared the 405-marker in right center for the Tribe's only run of the third. Ryan and Aguila then stroked back-to-back jacks in Indianapolis' five-run seventh.

The Indians opened up a seven-run advantage in the eighth when Ordaz highlighted a four-run inning with a two-run single.

Indianapolis RHP Jesse Chavez (3.0 IP, 3 H, 3 SO) worked the fifth, sixth and seventh innings for his second win of the campaign, while RHP Josh Sharpless (2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO) tossed the eighth and ninth for his second save.

RHP Joe Bisenius (1.0 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB), the fourth of five Ottawa hurlers, was pinned with his second blown save and first loss of 2007.

1B Dusty Wathan (4-for-5, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI) led the Lynx, while CF Chris Roberson (2-for-5, 1 HR, 2 R, 1 RBI), 2B Joey Hammond (2-for-5, 1 RBI), LF Lou Collier (2-for-4, 1 R, 2 RBI) and C Jason Jaramillo (2-for-4, 2 R, 2 RBI) also had multi-hit efforts.

The Lynx plated eight runs over the first four frames, but did not score again until the ninth. Roberson's first long ball of the season accounted for Ottawa's run in the first, while Coller lined a two-run single in the second and Wathan poked an RBI double in the fourth.

Indianapolis moves on to its longest road trip of the season -- a 12-game, 13-day journey to Syracuse, Buffalo and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Indians and Chiefs open up a four-game set on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

RHP Bryan Bullington is scheduled to start for Indianapolis in the series opener, while RHP Ty Taubenheim is expected to get the nod for Syracuse. The contest will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 6:40 p.m.

Indianapolis will return to Victory Field for a Memorial Day special on May 28 at 6 p.m. That showdown with Buffalo will open a four-game series and 12-game homestand.
