Collier Claims Batter Of The Week Honours

OTTAWA - As the weather warmed up, so did Lynx OF Lou Collier's bat. Collier has been named the International League Batter of the Week for the week ending May 13th.

Collier, 33, is the first member of the Lynx to win a weekly award this season. He earned the honor by scorching opposing pitchers in Louisville and Indianapolis for a .524 average (11-for-21) with a homer and 6 RBI over six games. Collier's week began with back-to-back three-hit in Louisville, May 8th and 9th. Collier's big week skyrocketed his batting average from .267 to .323 in a single week, and also more than doubled his RBI total on the year from 5 to 11.

Lou Collier is in his 14th season as a professional player. He has played in 315 Major League games with Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Montreal, Boston, and Philadelphia. He spent the last two seasons playing in Korea. Collier also played for the Lynx in 2002.
