LOUISVILLE, KY-Louisville (19-18) defeated Syracuse (15-21) in the final game of the eight-game homestand, 5-4, on Monday afternoon. A sellout crowd of 13, 131 saw the Bats win in the final Education Day of the season.

Bats' catcher Chad Moeller homered twice in the game, both solo shots. His last multi-home run effort came with the Arizona Diamondbacks September 29, 2002. Moeller went 2-for-4 for the day, with two RBI. Bats' second basemen Aaron Herr blasted a two-run home run and went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.

Syracuse shortstop Ray Olmedo went 2-for-4 with one RBI. His eighth inning single to center field scored right fielder Chad Mottola, and brought the Chiefs to within one. However, Syracuse was unable to get another base runner the remainder of the game.

Bats' starter Mike Gosling got the win, going 5.1 innings, giving up seven hits and three walks while striking out five. He improves to 1-2 on the year.

Syracuse starter Josh Banks (4-1, 3.88) picked up the loss for the Chiefs. Banks went 6.0 innings, giving up five runs on seven hits while allowing three home runs. Banks fanned seven Louisville batters while walking two.

Bats reliever Misael DeJesus, who was called up from Single-A Dayton today, pitched one inning, giving up one run on one hit. After the Olmedo RBI, DeJesus struck out three in a row. Marcus McBeth earned his fourth save of the season.

The Bats travel to Toledo Tuesday, marking the start of an eight-game road trip. LHP Phil Dumatrait (5-1, 1.99) takes the mound for Louisville, while RHP Yorman Bazardo (1-1, 2.45) starts for the Mud Hens. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
