Indians Pitching Stymies Bears Offense in 3-2 Win

August 8, 2011 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release

Spokane, WA -Yakima's offense found Spokane's suddenly potent pitching staff a stern challenge as the Indians edged the Bears 3-2 in front of 4,488 fans at Avista Stadium for Fantasy Baseball Night presented by Longhorn BBQ and ESPN 700 The Ticket.

Right-hander Nick McBride made his second consecutive quality start, holding Yakima to just two runs in 5.1 innings. Kyle Hendricks (2-1) continued his outstanding season, pitching 2.2 scoreless frames to pick up the win, and Matt West closed the door in the ninth for his fifth save, striking out two Bears with a mid-90's fastball and a darting curveball.

Spokane's offense did just enough to support their hurlers, grinding out three runs on a groundout, single, and sacrifice fly. Rougned Odor finished the game 2-4 with one RBI, and Trever Adams, Brett Nicholas, Yefry Castillo, Zach Cone, Guillermo Pimentel, and Hanser Alberto all notched hits in the win.

The victory moved Spokane to 5-7 in the second half (25-25 overall).
