
Aquasox Take Second Straight From Vancouver

Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Memorial Stadium - Everett, WA) - Aquasox 3B Ramon Morla stole both second and third base before scoring on a groundout from C Mike Dowd to help Everett top the Vancouver Canadians 5-1 on Monday night out at Everett Memorial Stadium in front of 2,379 fans.
The Aquasox opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning when CF Jarrett Burgess doubled down the third base line off of Canadians starter RHP Noah Syndergaard before coming around to count on a single off the bat of DH Jabari Blash giving Everett a 1-0 lead.
The Canadians responded in the top of the 2nd inning when 3B Balbino Fuenmayor hit his 6th home run of the summer off of Everett starter LHP Bennett Whitmore tying the game at 1-1.
Everett regained the lead in the bottom of the 4th inning when 3B Ramon Morla singled, stole second and third base and scored on a groundout from C Mike Dowd.
Defense struggles took center stage in the bottom of the 5th inning when Canadians reliever RHP Travis Garrett came in a gave up a single to LF Nate Melendrez before watching C Chris Schaeffer bobble a bunt offering right in front of the plate allowing RF Mario Yepez to reach base as well. After a fielder's choice allowed DH Jabari Blash to reach base followed by a bunt from 1B Jharmidy DeJesus, the Canadians woes continued. Blash attempted to steal third base and the throw from Vancouver C Chris Schaeffer missed the mark and ended up going down the third base line allowing Blash to trot home extending the lead to 4-1.
The dagger came in the bottom of the 7th inning when LF Nate Melendrez singled off of Canadians reliever LHP Justin Nicolino before coming around to count on a ball that went through the legs of 3B Balbino Fuenmayor to make the final 5-1.
With the loss, Vancouver drops to 5-8 (.385) on the season and fall three games back of West Division leading Everett who improve to 8-5 (.615).
