
Dust Devils Stay Hot in 3-2 Win Over Hawks

The Tri-City Dust Devils earned their tenth series win of the season Monday night, defeating the Boise Hawks 3-2 at Gesa Stadium. The Dust Devils are now 9-4 in the second half and lead the Northwest League East Division by three games. The victory also gives Tri-City 31 on the year, exceeding their total of 30 wins last season.
Tri-City (9-4 second half, 31-20 overall) starting pitcher Chris Jensen (1-0) earned his first win of his professional career Monday night, going 5 1/3 innings and allowing one run on four hits. It was his third start of the season and his best performance of the year. Relievers Nelson Gonzalez and Ken Roberts (SV, 7) combined to allow one run over the final 3 2/3 innings with Roberts earning his team-high seventh save of the season.
Boise (6-7, 23-28) starting pitcher Ben Wells (3-3) was tagged with his third loss of the season, allowing all three Dust Devil runs in his 5 2/3 innings on the mound. Hawks reliever Kyler Burke threw the final 2 1/3 innings for Boise, not allowing a run.
Six of the nine players in the Dust Devils lineup recorded hits on the night. Catcher Ryan Casteel led the way at the plate for Tri-City, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple and a run batted in. Outfielder Tyler Massey and designated hitter Juan Crousset also drove in runs for the Dust Devils in the game.
The series finale between the Dust Devils and Hawks is Tuesday night as Tri-City looks for their second series sweep of the season. Righty Christian Bergman gets the start on the mound for the Dust Devils with Yao-Lin Wang starting for the Hawks. Tuesday will also be Hometown Heroes Night at Gesa Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
