Club de Foot Montreal News Release
ORLANDO, Florida - The Montreal Impact (2-2-0) looks to end its preseason camp on a positive note when it takes on the Philadelphia Union for 5th place in the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic, this Saturday at 3pm ET, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. Follow all the action live on the team's official Twitter account (@impactmontreal).
Final adjustments
Head coach Frank Klopas will use this game to make some final tweaks and give important minutes to certain players in preparation for the team's season opener next Saturday versus FC Dallas (8:30pm ET, Toyota Stadium, TVA Sports/TSNRadio690).
"The season is around the corner and tomorrow is another opportunity to progress as a team," said head coach Frank Klopas. "We are looking forward to the game. The guys have been pushing really hard and we have a chance to play another MLS opponent to help improve on the things we've been working on in camp."
Defender Eric Miller, who took part in all four preseason games thus far, sees this matchup as an opportunity to refine parts of his game, most notably by helping out the offence more.
"It's just another opportunity to be ready for the season and get 80, 85 minutes to get our fitness up," said Eric Miller. "I want to try to go forward more and get more comfortable helping the offence, but still being responsible defensively as a group."
After winning its first game of the group stage against Fluminense FC U23 (1-0), the bleu-blanc-noir suffered consecutive losses, 3-0 to the New York Red Bulls last Saturday and 3-2 to Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday. Midfielder Sanna Nyassi has scored two goals so far during the tournament.
The Philadelphia Union is still looking for its first victory of training camp with a 0-2-3 record, including a scoreless draw in its last game with Toronto FC on Wednesday.
2014 Regular Season
The bleu-blanc-noir returns to Montreal on Sunday. The team will train at Marie-Victorin Sports Complex on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading to Texas to play its season opener against FC Dallas on March 8, at Toyota Stadium, and the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium on March 15.
The team's home opener at Olympic Stadium is set for Saturday, March 22, at 4pm against Clint Dempsey and the Seattle Sounders FC.
