Sounders FC Loans Zavaleta to Chivas USA

RENTON, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC has loaned out forward Eriq Zavaleta to Chivas USA for the 2014 season, the club announced today. Per intraleague loan rules, Zavaleta cannot play against Seattle this year.
Zavaleta, 21, made five appearances for Sounders FC in his rookie campaign in 2013. He was selected by Seattle in the first round (10th overall) of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft on January 17. Zavaleta appeared in all 12 MLS Reserve League matches in 2013, leading Sounders FC with four goals. He was previously loaned to the San Antonio Scorpions FC of the NASL from June 10 to July 11, 2013.
Zavaleta has appeared in three games (120 minutes) for Seattle this preseason.
