Idaho Slowed by Santa Cruz

Boise, Idaho - The Stampede fell to the Santa Cruz Warriors 89-98 on Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena. The Warriors received 63 of the 98 points from the reserves.

Idaho trailed by as many as 22 points before storming back in the final frame. Jack Cooley scored eight of his 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead the comeback attempt. The Stampede defense forced 20 turnovers, including eight in the fourth quarter to help cut the Santa Cruz lead. Idaho pulled the game within nine points but ultimately couldn't erase the deficit.

Jermaine Taylor led the way with a game-high 20 points. Five Idaho players scored in double figures, but the Stampede shot just 42 percent compared to the Warriors' 56 percent. Joel Wright and Tre Bussey each scored 10 points off the bench.

Dominique Sutton (19 points), Darington Hobson (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Anthony Vereen (17 points) each scored in double figures from the Warriors' bench. Santa Cruz took advantage inside by scoring 60 points in the paint, while shooting just 25 percent from outside.

The Idaho Stampede will host the Austin Spurs on Feb. 18 at CenturyLink Arena after the NBA D-League's All-Star weekend.
