Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID (1/15/14) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Wednesday morning that the Idaho Steelheads have received forward Johnny McGuire from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America.

McGuire, 20, has skated in 5 games with the Amerks, collecting 40 penalty minutes along the way. He played in 119 games of major-junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League, concluding his junior career with the Oshawa Generals - the same junior team that Ralph played for. During his OHL career, McGuire accumulated 299 penalty minutes.

McGuire is expected to be in uniform Wednesday night when Idaho hosts Utah at CenturyLink Arena. Game time is 7:10 PM.

The Steelheads have also released forward Joe Caveney. The rookie out of Fitchburg State (NCAA) was pointless in two games with Idaho after being acquired from Florida.

Group outings at a Steelheads game are a great way to gather friends, colleagues, or co-workers for a fun night out in downtown Boise. Ticket prices are discounted and you can get a Pepsi, Double-R Ranch Hot Dog, and bag of Tim's Cascade Chips with each ticket. Contact the Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 or log on to www.idahosteelheads.com for more information.
