TONIGHT:

The Ontario Reign (25-5-1-3) face the Stockton Thunder (18-13-0-4) for their eighth meeting of the season. This is just past the halfway mark of the season series of 14 games. Defenseman Jake Newton leads the Reign against the Thunder with seven points (4g, 3a), followed by Mario Lamoureux and Kyle Kraemer with six (2g, 4a) and five (1g, 4a), respectively. Stockton's Corey Trivino had led the Thunder with six points (6a) before being loaned to the Portland Pirates where he has played four games with two assists earned.

QUIETING THE THUNDER:

So far the Reign have done a good job keeping the Thunder out of the win column giving up just one game, their most recent match on December 22, by a 5-1 score. The Reign have outscored Stockton 22-15 this season.

STUCK AT FIVE:

Ontario is on their third, five-game win streak this season, a number they have yet to get past. The Reign were on an eight-game point streak and have only lost twice in their past 13 games. The team is hoping to get their sixth consecutive victory tonight to set a season-high six straight wins. The all-time Reign record is nine games from January 12, 2013 - February 1, 2013; during that time the Reign had four different goalies in net, three game-winning goals from Mario Lamoureux and two from Derek Couture.

WHO'S THAT GOALIE?:

The Reign's secondary NHL affiliate, the Winnipeg Jets, played musical goalies with their prospects this weekend swapping the Ontario Reign's Michael Hutchinson with the St. John's IceCaps' Jussi Olkinuora. Olkinuora made his pro debut with St. John's in the 2012-13 season after signing an entry level contract with the Jets in April 2013. He played two seasons with the University of Denver before joining the Jets organization.
