
Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis Loaned to Providence

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that goaltender Jeff Jakaitis has been loaned to the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
Jakaitis, 30, leads the ECHL with a 1.72 goals-against average and .937 save percentage, is second with 19 wins, tied for second with three shutouts and stands third with 1573 minutes played and 668 saves. The Rochester, Minnesota, native claimed the ECHL Goaltender of the Month Award for October and December this season and set a new league record by earning the monthly selection four times in his ECHL career.
After joining the Stingrays in December of last season, Jakaitis registered an 8-5-4 record with a 2.34 goals-against average (GAA), .925 save percentage and one shutout in 17 appearances. During the 2011-12 campaign, he went 17-6-2, finished second in the ECHL with a 2.03 GAA and led the league with a .930 save percentage in 26 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators, earning him the ECHL Goaltender of the Year award. Jakaitis also led the ECHL with five shutouts and tied a league record with three consecutive shutouts from December 17-28, 2011 all against the Stingrays.
At the AHL level, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound goaltender saw action with the Portland Pirates and Worcester Sharks, appearing in 10 total games from 2008-11.
The Stingrays visit the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday, January 17 at 7:35 p.m. at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio and head over to Evansville, Indiana to take on the Evansville IceMen on Saturday, January 18 at Ford Center 8:15 p.m. The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum for Family Four Pack Friday on Friday, January 24 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. Grab four tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas and large popcorn for $55 at the Coliseum Box Office.
