Idaho Beats Utah to Hold First Place

Boise, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads (36-22-6-3) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (36-26-6-3) 4-1 Wednesday night at CenturyLink Arena after a late empty netter.

Utah now trails Idaho by three points in the West Division with four games remaining as they return home to host Alaska Friday and Saturday.

The game was 1-0 Idaho through 40 minutes as Utah held an 18-7 shot edge after an 11-2 second period.

The Steelheads added two goals in 1:02 at 11:47 and 12:49 of the third period to build the lead from 1-0 to 3-0 after just killing Utah's fourth power-play of the night.

Charles Sarault tipped in his 19th goal of the season 14 seconds after Idaho made it 3-0 to make it 3-1 on a blast from Phil Pietroniro. Marc Cantin also picked up an assist. The Grizzlies earned a fifth power-play with under five minutes left, but were unable to cut the deficit to 1.

Ryan Faragher took the loss in net for Utah dropping to 24-13-1-1.
