Indy Inks Murray, Shafer; Thrush Waived

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel announced today that the team has signed forward Colin Murray while also signing goaltender Terry Shafer to an ECHL contract after releasing him from his ATO. The club also waived forward Casey Thrush.

The 26-year-old Murray is a veteran of 100 ECHL games, posting 18 goals and 33 points in that span with Kalamazoo, Evansville and Brampton. The 6-4, 207 lb. right wing most recently appeared with the Beast, posting three goals and four points in nine games.

Shafer, 25, was signed by the Fuel out of Robert Morris Univeristy after completing his senior season. He left as the winningest goaltender in program history with 43 victories and the is career leader in goals against average at 2.67 and shutouts with eight. In his senior season the Penfield, NY native tied the single-season high for wins by a goaltender with 19 and was named Atlantic Hockey conference goaltender of the week three times. His four shutouts also tied a Robert Morris record for a single season.

Finally, the team announced it has released forward Casey Thrush. The 23-year-old left wing appeared in three games for Indy with no points and two minutes in penalties.
