Louisiana IceGators News Release

Lafayette, LA – Louisiana IceGators forwards Bruce Richardson and Dennis Shiryaev and defenseman Kevin Mitchell have been released from the AHL Houston Aeros' training camp and will return to the IceGators on Wednesday, Louisiana head coach and vice president of hockey operations Dave Farrish announced Tuesday.

"Houston was very happy with the way that all three guys played," said Farrish. "They were impressed. I'm sure they will get some opportunities over the course of the season, along with some other players. It was a good experience for each of them."

Shiryaev and Mitchell are each entering their second season with the IceGators, while Richardson spent part of the 2000-01 campaign with Louisiana before playing last season with AHL Cincinnati.

The IceGators open up their 2002-03 season Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in Arkansas. Also, a reminder that Sunday's scheduled home opener has been postponed. Louisiana's new home opener is Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:05 p.m. against Mississippi.
