Greensboro Generals News Release

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) have announced the signing of left wing Ole Kjenstad (O-lee JEN-sted) today. Kjenstad, an eight-year pro, becomes the fourth and final veteran-status player signed by the Generals, and will be in the lineup on opening night at the Lexington Men O'War this Friday night at 7:30. ECHL guidelines only allow four players per team who have played 250 or more games as a pro.

Kjenstad provides the Generals a speedy winger with a multi-faceted game. He excels on the attack, scoring 463 career points (206g, 257a) in 442 games. The 29-year old native of Kamloops, British Columbia also isn't afraid to rough things up, notching 100-plus penalty minutes in six of his eight seasons. The majority of Kjenstad's career has been spent with the Columbus Cottonmouths, including a 43-point campaign (22g, 21a) in 49 games last year. The 6'0", 185-pound forward also had a career year with the Cottonmouths in 1998, scoring 55 goals and 70 assists for 125 points en route to the Central Hockey League title.

The Generals' opening night roster will be released on Wednesday in preparation for Friday's season opener.

The Generals' home opener is Friday, October 25 at 7:30 against the Reading Royals. Opening night is Hooters Magnetic Schedule Night, with the first 2,000 fans entering the building receiving a Generals 2002-2003 schedule.
