Ice Dogs Get Versatile

September 7, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ice Dogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Malcolm Cameron, announced today he has agreed to terms with rookie forward/defenseman, David Walker. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

At 6'0", 200 pounds, Walker plays both sides of the puck as a forward or defenseman. The Bridgewater, Nova Scotia native played the last four seasons for Dalhousie University, and played juniors for the Moncton Wildcates of the QMJHL. In 106 games at Dalhousie, he had 51 points and 179 penalty minutes. In 68 games for Moncton, he had 13 points and 347 penalty minutes. He is expected to play both positions this season, providing the Ice Dogs with options at both ends of the ice.

"David is an extremely versatile player", said Cameron. "He plays forward and defense equally well, has a great shot, he's gritty, and is not afraid to stick his nose in the play. We're really excited to have him on our team."

Walker is not an unfamiliar face to some of his teammates. He played juniors in Moncton with Paul Dunphy, and played two years at Dalhousie University with Gary Zinck.

Season tickets for the 2004-2005 season are on sale now in all price ranges. The Ice Dogs are guaranteeing the playoffs or season ticket holders will receive a $50 rebate on each seat purchased. Don't miss the season opener, October 22nd versus the San Diego Gulls. Call (562) ICE-DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com for more information.
