Gladiators Announce Promotions
September 7, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Toby Jeffreys, Managing Partner & Chairman of the ECHL's Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that Bill Davidson has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer and Steve Chapman has been promoted to President of the professional hockey club.
"These promotions reflect the success we have achieved during our short history in Gwinnett," said Jeffreys. "These two dedicated individuals, along with our five local investment partners and staff, have created a solid foundation for the future of the Gwinnett Gladiators."
During the team's inaugural season last year, the Gladiators captured the ECHL's Central Division Championship with attendance of over 181,000 fans at the state-of-the-art Arena at Gwinnett Center.
"We continue to add new corporate sponsors and season ticket holders while enjoying an excellent renewal rate among our current fans and clients," said Jeffreys. "The business community as well as people seeking exciting, affordable and family oriented entertainment have responded enthusiastically to our product. The promotion of Davidson and Chapman are reflective of their leadership".
In June, Chapman was selected as one of the top four ECHL executives in recognition of his exceptional management of the Gwinnett Gladiators inaugural season and relocation from Mobile, Alabama, along with his leadership role within the ECHL.
"We are extremely proud of our accomplishments, both on and off the ice," said Jeffreys. "Anytime you can win your division, make it to the conference finals and manage to make a profit; it's a tribute to the community responding to your product. Due to the success we've enjoyed and the strategic benefits offered by our local investment partners, we plan to offer additional opportunities for qualified local individuals to join our investment group in the very near future."
The Central Division Champion Gwinnett Gladiators begin their second season on the road before hosting in-state rival Augusta on Friday, October 29th at 7:35 p.m. at home. In addition to having a ticket package for everyone, the Gladiators also offer group outings, suites and birthday parties. The Gladiators play all 36 home games at the Arena at Gwinnett Center located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth and are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers.
